To support non-evil use of computers, and to foster novel, whimsical, distributed, and/or hopeful applications of technology, and to provide moral ballast for people working on projects that are aligned with that mission, in so far as our resources allow.

More than freedom: for a long time people have seen software through the lens of freedom, in a free as in speech sense. But that's kinda not (only) what we need for liberation at this stage. Empowerment is great, but it's not enough if it isn't inclusive and practical?
